Sweat (or Not!): It's Up to You! Find Your Zumba Groove!


A Zumba class can be fun, but sometimes, life throws us curveballs like returning from illness or just feeling a bit "meh.". Other times, you're ready to push yourself and leave it all on the dance floor. 


Whether you need to dial things up or down, this post has you covered.


Here are some easy tips to help you adapt your Zumba experience to match your energy level, so you can get the most out of each class. 


Grab some water, lace up your shoes, and let's move!




HOW TO DECREASE INTENSITY AT ZUMBA


#1 Decrease the range of motion

Take smaller steps, move in a comfortable range, focus on smaller arm movements, keeping them below your heart.


#2 Communicate with the instructor

Let the instructor know if you have any limitations or need modifications, they are there to help you have an awesome time.


#3 Take frequent breaks

Rather than doing every single track, rest for longer durations. Listen to your body and drink water regularly.


#4 Adjust the intensity

Many Zumba moves have different levels, choose the options which feels comfortable for you, even if it's different to what others are doing. This is your workout.


#5 Focus on having fun

Instead of pushing for maximum intensity, focus more on having a good time enjoying the music and moving in a comfortable way.



HOW TO INCREASE INTENSITY AT ZUMBA


#1 Amplify your Arms

Put your arms in the air like you just don't care and move with purpose and passion.


#2 Get Down

Deepen squats and steps and get lower to engage more muscles in your lower body.


#3 Engage your core

Focus on twisting, bending and using your hips more to increase the range of motion and increase the amount you are working.


#4 Let your personality shine

Add your own personality and flavour to moves, perform like you're in your own music video.


#5 Do your homework (if you want)

REMEMBER:

Don't lose sight of the joy and fun of a Zumba class by over-focussing on intensity. Listen to your body, modify when needed, and have a great time!
