Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the survey recently, it really helps me so much to get clarity on how to help and support you all. I think it's important to give you an overview and respond to feedback, so keep reading to find out what was said. Don't forget - you've got until 10th September to use the promo code you got for completing the survey. If you've forgotten the code, send me a message.
WHY DO PEOPLE COME TO MY CLASSES?

It comes as no surprise that the most common reasons people come to my classes are to improve their fitness, to connect with people and fun.
The graph was a summary, but the survey highlighted that people find the classes positive and welcoming which makes me so happy!
HOW COULD I SUPPORT YOU BETTER/ IMPROVE CLASS EXPERIENCE?
Most people said that they felt because of how active I am via email and on social media, that they were happy with their experience, however there were a few points raised which are listed below. Click on the header to expand.
Additional classes
A few people requested add-ons after class, such as short 15 minute core classes like I used to do in Groby. I am seeing whether this is an option at Leicester. There is a new mobility class created by Zumba which is also a great add on after a Zumba class. Once I have more info, I will be looking at the demand.
More current 'popular' music
A few people would like more current music in the classes, which I completely understand, and I do try and bring popular tracks to class. However, Zumba require me to have 70% of the class music as Latin American/ World music and it must include merengue, reggaeton, salsa and cumbia. I do my best to balance this equally.
I am always happy to have song suggestions, so please do send me songs you would like to see in class and I will do my best to put them in if suitable.
Space management
Some participants mentioned that encouraging attendees to spread out would help prevent crowding in parts of the class. I assume this was regarding Groby, I have been in touch with the school about a larger room.
I will do my best to remind people at the start of the class to move forwards. I would like to reassure Groby attendees that I have no intention of increasing the number of people allowed at a class.
Clearer communication/ breakdown for new routines
It was suggested that I email when I am bringing a new routine to class and that I should go through the new tracks slowly so that it is easier to pick up.
I understand how frustrating it can be to try and master a new track in class, I feel the same challenges when I go to a new class. I will try and improve how I instruct/ breakdown new tracks to be simpler to pick up where possible. To keep the flow of a class going and the party-like feel of a Zumba class, we are told not to go through routines in class.
To make it easier to learn tracks, I create video content on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram so that you can look at the routines outside class if you want to.
Sometimes people come to me and apologise for not getting certain choreography - our classes are about the joy of music and movement, I am not there judging anyone's ability. Let your uniqueness and individuality shine!
WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE MIGHT STOP COMING TO CLASSES?

It was lovely to read that on the whole most of you hate missing classes, but as we all know life happens and we all have responsibilities we cannot escape.
The most common answer was motivation, this is not a surprise, I think most people struggle with this at some point.
My Top Tip
What I advise people to try and do when trying to create consistency with any kind of habit or activity is to create a routine around it so it becomes something you 'just do'. Make it a non-negotiable, like going to work.
For example, make a commitment to yourself and those around you that on Tuesday night you will be coming to Zumba, come rain come shine. Get people to encourage you to come, maybe do it with a friend. But you want to get to the point where people don't make plans with you on 'Zumba night'. Motivation and enthusiasm wane. Routine is how you stay consistent.
The next two most common responses were time/ family commitments. I have continued live-streaming to try and make the classes as accessible as possible for those times when you can't leave the house. If you are yet to try and online class and would like to know more, let me know and I will help you get online.
For the first time ever, finances were mentioned. Sadly the cost of living crisis is affecting us all. I have no plans to increase prices at this time as I want to help as many people move as possible. Life can look bleak at times so I want to help people through this as much as I can.
WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 CLASSES THAT PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO SEE ON THE TIMETABLE?
I am always looking for ways to better support you all so this section was really helpful for me to look at what you would like to see more of. Click on heading to expand.
1. Pilates
This was the most common response, people were interest in this type of class for strengthening and flexibility.
2. Sass and Dance-Based Strength Training
There were calls for me to bring back "Sass and Fierce" or having dance-based classes with a focus on strength, toning, and conditioning received positive responses. I am considering bringing back Zumba Toning for a block of classes, let me know if you'd be interested.
3. Additional Zumba Classes/ Classes in Groby
There were requests for more Zumba/ other style of dance-fitness classes and also a lot of calls for more classes in Groby. I am currently working on expanding my online coaching so I can give better 1-2-1 support for people, so this is taking a lot of my time up. I am one person trying to spin many plates.
However, if there is the demand, I will look at the demand for an add-on class at Groby on a Monday evening. Again, I am just discussing if the space is available with the school.
Legs, Bums, and Tums
A classic class which is apparently very popular! I am looking to continue with at 25 minute class on a Tuesday at 6.30pm before Zumba at Lyng Hall. Rather than having a permanent class in that slot, I will try and bring variety so that I can help and support everyone's requests as best I can.
WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF ZUMBA?
So whilst this doesn't impact our classes or community, I was interested to find out what additional activities you did. The most popular activity was walking, followed by swimming, then yoga and pilates. As we all know, it's super important to be as active as possible.

FINAL FEEDBACK

The list was a summary of what was said in the additional feedback box. It was honestly, so touching to read how much our classes mean to you and how much they support you in both your physical and mental well being.
As we all know, it's intimidating and scary coming to a class for the first time, so let's continue to say 'hello' to new people, smile and make them feel welcome.
Thank you so much for being part of such a welcoming and inclusive community.
